Go into the CPT72 folder and execute the ./install command to install Cisco Packet Tracer 7.2.1.
After installing Packet Tracer 7.2.1 on Debian, execute the PacketTracer command in Terminal. If Packet Tracer does not open, run cd /opt/pt/bin/.
This time, run ./PacketTracer7 to run Packet Tracer 7.2.1. The reason why Cisco Packet Tracer 7.2.1 does not work is that dependent packages need to be installed.
You can see that the libpng12.so.0 package is not installed.
To install the required libpng package for Packet Tracer, run the command sudo apt-get install libpng12-0 in Terminal.
sudo apt-get install libpng12-0
After installing the libpng12 package, try again with the command ./PacketTracer7 to start the Packet Tracer. If you get the ./libcrypto.so.1.0.0: no version information available (required by ./PacketTracer7)error as in the following image, you need to install the libcrypto package.
To install the Libcrypto package on Debian, run sudo apt-get install libssl1.0.0 in Terminal.
sudo apt-get install libssl1.0.0
After installing the libssl1.0.0 package in Debian, when you try to open the Cisco Packet Tracer 7.2.1, you will get ./libcrypto.so.1.0.0: no version information available (required by ./PacketTracer7) error.
To resolve the Cisco Packet Tracer 7.2.1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 error, execute cp -i /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0/opt/pt/bin/ in Terminal. Then, press Y key to confirm overwriting the existing file in the “cp: overwrite ‘/opt/pt/bin/libcrypto.so.1.0.0’” section.
With this command, /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 file will be replaced with libcrypto.so.1.0.0 file in /opt/pt/bin/.
cp -i /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 /opt/pt/bin/
cp: overwrite '/opt/pt/bin/libcrypto.so.1.0.0'? Y
As you can see in the image below, the libcrypto error no longer prevents the Packet Tracer from running!
Finally, use the command sudo apt-get install libqt5webkit5 to install dependent packages for Packet Tracer 7.2.1 on Debian.
