You can use 3rd party software for TFTP Server setup. For the TFTP Client, you can enable this service from the programs and features on the Windows operating system.
In this article, we will use the Solarwinds program to Install TFTP Server on Windows 10.
What is TFTP Server?
What is TFTP Server? The TFTP Server listens to the UDP 69 port on the network and provides file-based services to clients. It is usually used to install software on Cisco or any branded Routers. It is not recommended to use the TFTP protocol in an environment where your security is even more important.
FTP or some other protocol can be used instead of TFTP. You can test by temporarily setting up a TFTP Server on the local network. You can remove the TFTP Server from your computer when the required operation is complete.
How to Use TFTP Server Solarwinds on Windows 10?
Firstly, download the Solarwinds program to use TFTP Server Solarwinds on Windows 10. Afterward, open the VMware Workstation program and then install one virtual machine. On this article, we will use the Windows 10 operating system.
We can move on the steps to use TFTP Server Solarwinds on Windows 10. Configure the network adapter of the virtual machine as Bridged on the VMware Workstation.
It has been configured the Bridged setting on the VMware Virtual Network Edıtor as Bridged by creating VMnet0.

Run the Windows 10 virtual machine.
Copy the program to the Windows 10 desktop you downloaded to use TFTP Server Solarwinds on Windows 10. And control the Ip address of the Virtual Machine. Afterward, run the Solarwinds TFTP Server as administrator.
Click on the Next button for the SolarWinds TFTP Server installation window.
Accept the license agreement and click on the Next button.
Click on the Next button again.
Leave the installation location as default and click on the Next button.
Click the Install button to install Solarwinds TFTP Server.
Finish the installation by clicking on the Finish button.
Open the Solarwinds TFTP Server program, and then click on the File menu.
As you can see, the service is not working right now. Click the Start button to start the TFTP service.
The location of the SolarWinds TFTP Server is shown below. You can change this location if you like.
After launching the service for Solarwinds TFTP Server installation, TFTP-Root folder was created in C:\ drive.
In the TFTP-Root folder, create 2 text documents.

In the Programs and Properties window, click Turn Windows properties on or off.
In the opened window has more than one service. After you come down, you will see the TFTP Client service. After activating the TFTP Client service, click on the OK button.
Windows changes are complete. Click the Close button.
After we pressed Windows Key + R on our real computer, the Run window will open. In the Run window, type CMD and press Enter. The CMD command prompt will then be opened.
CMD At the command prompt, execute the TFTP command. The TFTP Client service will be loaded correctly and options will be displayed as shown below.
We are in the most important stage of using Solarwinds TFTP Server.
Solarwinds TFTP Server = It is VMware Windows 10 Virtual Machine.
TFTP Client = Our Real Computer.
We need to move on any file from the location specified on the TFTP Server to the location where we will copy it at the command prompt to copy to the actual computer. For we want to copy the 1.txt text document from the TFTP Server to the desktop on the real computer, we need to go to the desktop position at the CMD command prompt.
Switch to the desktop position with the CD Desktop command. Then, apply the command “tftp -i 192.168.1.102 get 1.txt” to copy the 1.txt text document.
File transfer completed successfully!
The text document transferred was copied to the desktop location. Let’s write TEST inside by modifying the file. If the file is read-only, you can remove this setting from the file properties.
Let’s upload the text document we wrote “TEXT” inside to the Solarwinds TFTP Server. At the command prompt, type tftp -i 192.168.1.102 put 1.txt. The only difference there is the implementation of the put command.
The file transfer was successfully uploaded.
When we check the file uploaded from the Windows 10 virtual machine, you can see from the image below that the file was successfully uploaded.
