How to Upgrade VMware Workstation on Windows 10?
The VMware Workstation program is not updated automatically. However, when you run VMware Workstation, the Software Updates window appears. From the Software Updates window, you can download and install the latest version of VMware Workstation.
For example, if you have VMware Workstation 12 Pro, you can upgrade to VMware Workstation 14 Pro for free.

After upgrading the VMware Workstation, you may need to upgrade your virtual machines’ hardware compatibility.
Tip: Instead of updating VMware Workstation on Windows 10, you should completely uninstall all VMware Workstation files using your Uninstaller program. Then, download this program from the VMware site and install to your computer.
How to Update VMware Workstation to Latest Version?
The latest version of VMware Workstation is 14.1.0. We will update the VM Workstation 14 version we are using to 14.1.0. For VMware Workstation 14.1.0 system requirements, you can review the following list.

After reviewing the VMware Workstation 14.1.0 system requirements, follow these steps in order to update VMware Workstation.
Run VMware Workstation from the Windows menu.
After running VMware Workstation, the Software Update window will appear as shown below. Click on the Download and Install button to continue.
The necessary files, such as VMware Tools for VMware Workstation, are downloading from the VMware server.
Downloading VMware Workstation 14.1.0 Pro…
The VMware Setup window will appear after downloading the necessary files for the update. Click on the Next button to begin installation. If you see an error like the one below, click on the OK button and terminate VMware Workstation.exe from the Task Manager.
Click the Next button in the VMware Workstation 14.1.0 Pro installation window.
To accept the license agreement, check the I accept the terms of the license agreement and click on the Next button.
Select the Enhanced Keyboard Driver option and click Next.
Select the following options for the user experience and click Next to continue the installation.
Continue the installation by selecting the Desktop option to create a shortcut to the desktop.
Click the Upgrade button for the VMware Workstation update process.
Installing VMware Workstation Pro…
After the VMware Workstation upgrade is complete, click Finish to close the window.
The process to upgrade VMware Workstation on Windows 10 has completed successfully. Reboot your computer to take effect the changes of it.
After upgrading to VMware, open VMware Workstation and check the version of the program from Help/About.
