The latest version of VMware Workstation is 14.1.3. Installing VMware Workstation 14.1.3 Pro on Ubuntu 18.04 is the same as following steps.
First, visit https://www.vmware.com/tr/products/workstation-pro/workstation-pro-evaluation.html and download VMware Workstation 14 Pro for Linux to your computer.
Before you install VMware Workstation, use the command sudo apt-get update in Terminal to update the Ubuntu package list.
sudo apt-get update
To install Linux development tools, use the sudo apt install gcc build-essential command.
sudo apt install gcc build-essential
After installing VMware Workstation 14 Pro, go to the Downloads folder and open the Terminal. In order to install VMware on Ubuntu 18.04/18.10, execute the following commands in order.
chmod +x VMware-Workstation-Full-14.1.1-7528167.x86_64.bundle sudo ./VMware-Workstation-Full-14.1.1-7528167.x86_64.bundle
At the VMware Workstation 14 Pro installation window, accept the license agreement and click Next.
Accept the VMware OVF Tool license agreement and click Next.
Select Yes to check for VMware updates and click Next.
Select Yes to participate in the VMware customer experience program, and then click Next.
Type your Ubuntu 18.04/18.10 username and click Next.
On VMware Workstation 14 Pro, leave the location where virtual machines will be installed by default and click on the Next button.
If you are using HTTPS (443) port on your system, you can set the port value in this step. After configuring the port setting, click on the Next button.
If you have purchased VMware Workstation 14 Pro, in this step, type License Key and click Next.
Click the Install button to start the installation of VMware Workstation 14 Pro on Ubuntu 18.04/18.10.
Wait while VMware Workstation is installing.
From the Ubuntu search menu, find the VMware Workstation program and run it.
To try VMware Workstation free for 30 days, select I want to try VMware Workstation 14 for 30 days and click OK.
Type your Ubuntu 18.04/18.10 root password and click on the OK button.
