How to Change MacOS High Sierra Virtual Machine Screen Resolution on VirtualBox? (1920×1080/2K/4K/5K)
In VirtualBox, you can only change MacOS screen resolution with certain values. Also, the default resolution setting for MacOS is 1024×768. For example, when you try to set the resolution to 1366×768, the Mac resolution setting will automatically be set to 1280×720.
Mac screen resolution values are as follows:
- 1280×720 (HD)
- 1920×1080 (FHD)
- 2560×1440 (QHD)
- 2048×1080 (2K)
- 3840×2160 (4K)
- 5120×2880 (5K)
To change the screen resolution of the MacOS virtual machine on VirtualBox, follow the steps below in order.
To change the MacOS screen resolution in VirtualBox, you need to use the following code. In the “Your VM” section of the code, you must type the name of your MacOS virtual machine.

The important thing to note here is that you have to exit VirtualBox program before executing the command.
To do this, you must run the CMD command prompt as an administrator, otherwise you will not be able to change the resolution. In the Windows 10 search box, type CMD and run it as administrator.
You can also access Command Prompt (Admin) by pressing the Windows Key + X keys together.
After opening the CMD prompt, first, move into the VirtualBox folder. Then type in the resolution you want to change to the X part of the code and copy the code.
Paste the code into the CMD and press Enter.
Now open the VirtualBox program and run the MacOS virtual machine.
The screen resolution of the MacOS High Sierra virtual machine is configured to 1920×1080.
If you want to try a different screen resolution again, type a different value in the X section and apply the command on the CMD.
This time the screen resolution is configured as 2048×1080!
