However, if you perform GNS3 VM integration with GNS3, the IOS images are stored on the GNS3 VM and run faster.
You can also use Cisco IOU images with GNS3 VM for more advanced network topologies.

In this article, we will examine the steps to install GNS3 VM 2.1.0 on the Windows 10 operating system and finally, we will test it by uploading one Cisco Router on GNS3 VM 2.1.0.
How to Install GNS3 VM 2.1.0 using VMware Workstation 14 on Windows 10?
We will install GNS3 VM 2.1.0 using the VMware Workstation 14 Pro virtualization program on Windows 10 operating system.
Open the GNS3 VM 2.1.0.ova file downloaded from the GNS3 site with VMware Workstation. Then, click the Import button to import the GNS3 VM into the VMware Workstation program.

After the GNS3 VM import process is complete, run the virtual machine.
Open the GNS3 program and click on Edit/Preferences and click on GNS3 VM in the window that opens. In the GNS3 VM Preferences window, select the Enable the GNS3 VM option and click the OK button to close the window.
Once the GNS3 VM 2.1.0 virtual machine powered on, you can check the IP configuration.
Check the network connection by pinging the GNS3 VM IP address.
After successfully GNS3 VM 2.1.0 connection with VMware Workstation 14, click Help/Setup Wizard to add a Cisco Router IOS image on the GNS3 VM.
In the Setup Wizard window, click Run modern IOS (IOSv or IOU), ASA and appliances from the non-Cisco manufacturers option.
Select VMware for GNS3 VM setting and continue.
In the New appliance template window, select the Add an IOS router using real IOS Image (supported by Dynamips) option and continue.
In the New IOS router template window, select the Run this IOS router on the GNS3 VM option and click on the Next button.
Select the Cisco Router IOS image you want to add on the GNS3 VM.
Select a value for the Cisco Router by clicking on the Idle-PC Finder button.
You can check the Cisco Router location you added from the following image. In GNS3, create a new project and drag and drop it to the workspace.
Run and test the Cisco Router. The process to install GNS3 VM 2.1.0 on Windows 10 has been completed successfully!
