Let’s briefly discuss the before importing GNS3 VM in VMware. GNS3 VM is a virtual machine integration program developed on a Linux platform. After downloading the GNS3 VM.ova file, you need a virtualization program to import/install your computer.
By uploading Cisco Router IOS images to the GNS3 VM Server, you can eliminate storage conflicts. IOS images loaded on the GNS3 VM are performing more efficiently. If the GNS3 VM import operation is performed on an external disk, it will provide even more performance.

GNS3 has developed the GNS3 VM.ova file for the VMware Workstation virtualization program. These files are also available in the VirtualBox virtualization program. In this article, we will use VMware Workstation. You can also use the VMware virtualization program.
The GNS3 VM import process described in this article contains almost the same steps as in VirtualBox.
How to Import GNS3 VM.ova in VMware Workstation?
We can now pass the GNS3 VM installation steps on VMware. After you have done the VMware Workstation installation, you can also download the GNS3 VM.ova file from the link below the article. Remove the archived file that you downloaded from your computer. Then follow the steps below in order.
Double-click the GNS3 VM 2.0.3.ova file.
The VMware Workstation program will be opened as follows. I recommend you to import it to an external disk, click the Browse button.
From the Disc options, create a new folder on your external hard disk and then press the OK button.
After checking that the GNS3 VM installation location is on the external disk, press the Import button.
GNS3 VM import process started.
After importing the GNS3 VM, the first image will be as follows. To make the GNS3 VM network connection settings, click Network Adapters as follows. Then, delete Network Adapter 2.
Configure the Network Adapter 1 settings as VMnet0 (Bridged). Be sure to configure the VMnet0 as Bridged in the Virtual Network Editor program.
After completing the above steps, run the GNS3 VM 2.0.3 virtual machine.

After opening the GNS3 VM, the first boot image is as follows. You can go to advanced settings section by clicking OK here. The GNS3 VM IP address is obtained from the DHCP server on our local network as follows.
After successfully completing the process to import GNS3 VM in VMware, test the connection by pinging the GNS3 VM IP address from the CMD prompt.
