If you ask that what does the Cisco router name change do, we name locally the Routers as it’s easy to keep in mind when you designed the complex topologies in the future. Thus, we decide for configuring the hostname.

As the example, if we consider that it’s in the Istanbul our center firm, let’s suppose we have a branch in two different cities. When we name these cities as İzmir and Ankara, we can change the name of the Router as IstanbulCenter# because it is the center of Istanbul.

For Izmir and Ankara branches, we can name the Routers as IzmirBranch# and AnkaraBranch# because it is easy to remember and not to make any confusion during code complexity.
