Secure data transfer using the SSH protocol takes place via TCP. To access SSH Server from a remote location, you must configure TCP and 22 Port on your ADSL Modem or Router.

In order to use the SSH protocol in Windows 10, you need a 3rd party program such as Putty.

The SSH connection uses an SSL certificate for data security. For example, when you visit a website, you’ll see a green icon in the top left corner. This icon indicates that the website has an SSL certificate and that your data is transmitted securely.
When we compare SSH to Telnet, we can say that the SSH protocol is more secure.
How to Install SSH Server on Windows 10?
Download the OpenSSH and Putty programs required to use SSH on your on Windows 10 computer.
You can create VMnet4 or another VMnet in the VMware Workstation Virtual Network Editor program. Check that the VMnet4 adapter card is set up to Bridged.
Copy the OpenSSH program that you downloaded to your computer to the Windows 10 virtual machine and run the file as an administrator to start the installation.
Select the language setting and click the OK button.
Preparing the OpenSSH program for installation.
Click the Next button in the OpenSSH setup window.
Accept the license agreement and click on the Next button.
To install SSH Server on the Windows 10 virtual machine, select Serverin the Components window and click Next.
In the Setup Location window, leave the default settings and click Next.
In the Select Startup Menu Folder window, click the Next button.
In the Run as LOCAL_SYSTEM window, select this setting and click the Next button.
We specified that the default port number for the SSH connection is 22. Leave the default setting and click on the Next button.
We mentioned that the SSH connection is a secure protocol. SSH will create a key for a secure connection. Continue by selecting the default setting here.
In the user setting window, select Local Users to continue.

The OpenSSH installation is complete. Now go to the next step.
After installing SSH Server with OpenSSH on Windows 10, you must now create a new user for the SSH connection.
To create a new SSH user, open Computer Management.
In the Computer Management window, click Users, and then in the blank area, click the Right Button.
The user creation window will open. From here, click New User.
Create a new user for the SSH connection. Do not forget to give a password. Once you have filled in the user information, click the Create button.
After creating a new user for SSH Client, click Close to close the window.
Double-click SSHUser to make it an Administrator member.
Go to the Membership tab, and you will see the Add button at the bottom. Click the Add button to continue.
Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the Select group window.
Then click on the Find button to search for groups on the operating system.
After you select the Administrator account, click the OK button.
Click the OK button again.
After making the SSHUser as a member of the Administrator group, click the OK button.
Up to this point, we have installed OpenSSH Server on Windows 10. Now, we will use the Putty program to connect to SSH Server from Host PC.
Putty will provide us with an SSH Client service. Double click on Putty to open it.
After you open the Putty program, type the IP address of Windows 10 virtual machine (OpenSSH Server) and click the Open button.
An SSH connection was established to the virtual machine.
Type the SSHUser username that you created on the virtual machine.
Type the password of SSHUser and press Enter.
You have successfully connected to SSH Server using Putty!
Execute the “hostname” command on the SSH Client to find the hostname of SSH Server.
You can also check Hostname via Windows 10 OpenSSH Server.
To create a new folder on OpenSSH Server, execute the “md FolderName” command on the SSH Client.
Go to the virtual machine and check the C: drive. You can see that the new folder was created.
