In this article, we will install Windows 8 / 8.1 operating system step by step with Hyper-V. If you do not have the Windows 8 ISO file, you can download the computer from the bottom of the article.
How to Install Windows 8.1 using Hyper-V in Windows 10?
Follow the steps below for step-by-step Windows 8.1 installation using Hyper-V Manager on Windows 10.
Run Hyper-V Manager from the Windows menu.
From the Hyper-V Manager Actions menu, click Virtual Machine.
Type a name for the Windows 8.1 virtual machine. And it is recommended that you set up the virtual machine to a different location. To do this, select the Store the virtual machine in a different location option and click the Next button.
On the Generation menu, select Generation 1 and click the Next button.
Determine the amount of RAM for the Windows 8.1 virtual machine. If you want Hyper-V to dynamically determine the RAM value, select Use Dynamic Memory for this virtual machine and click Next.
We did not define a network adapter for Hyper-V, so click Next to skip this step.
You can set the Windows 8.1 virtual machine Hard Disk size to 40 GB.
You can add the downloaded Windows 8.1 ISO file by clicking on the Browse button in the Installation Options window. After adding the Windows 8.1 ISO file, click on the Next button.
This window contains summary information for the Windows 8.1 virtual machine. Click on the Finish button to close the window.
Right-click on Windows 8.1 and click Connect.
Click the Start button to start Windows 8.1 installation.
Windows installation is starting…
Select your system language and keyboard layout for Windows and click Next.
Accept the Windows 8.1 license agreement and proceed with the installation.
We have created a 40 GB Hard Disk space for the virtual machine. Format the Hard Disk, select Partition 2 and click Next.
Windows files are preparing for installation…
Type your username for Windows 8.1.
Click on the Use express setting button to continue.
Installing apps from the store…
It has completed the steps to install Windows 8.1 in Hyper-V on Windows 10! To make the Windows 8.1 virtual machine Full Screen, click View / Full Screen.
The Windows 8.1 menu opening looks like the following image.
You can access Windows 8.1 system information by clicking Right Key / Properties on My Computer.
