How to Install Windows 10 on Hyper-V

To install Windows 10 using Microsoft’s virtualization program, first create a virtual machine with Hyper-V. If you do not know how to create a new virtual machine with Hyper-V, you can watch the video below.

In this article, we will create a virtual machine using the HyperV virtualization program on Windows 10 and then setup the Windows 10 operating system.

After installing HyperV, follow the steps below to install Windows 10 on the virtual machine.

   Step 1

First, run Hyper-V Manager, and then click New Virtual Machine from the Actions section.

In the New Virtual Machine Wizard window, type Windows 10 for the operating system name and change the location of the virtual machine to be installed.

If you want to install UEFI, continue with Generation 2. If you encounter any problems with the Windows 10 installation, continue with the Generation 1 option.

Since Generation 1 supports MBR / BIOS, click Next to continue.

Set the RAM amount of the virtual machine to 4096 (4 GB).

As we have not added any adapters for Hyper-V, continue this step by clicking Next.

Set the Hard Disk size to 50 GB for the Windows 10 virtual machine.

Click the Browse button to add the Windows 10 ISO file, and then click Next.

Up to this step, we have created a new virtual machine for installation. As you can see in the image below, there is summary information for the virtual machine. Click Finish to continue the installation.

On the Hyper-V Manager console screen, click Right-Click / Connect on Windows 10.

After connecting to the Windows 10 virtual pc, click the Start button to start the installation.

After the installation starts, the first step is to select the Windows 10 system language, time zone, and keyboard layout.

Click Install Now to start the Win10 setup.

Accept the MS Windows 10 license agreement and click Next.

Prepare the hard disk device for Windows 10 installation and select Partition 2 to continue the installation.
