How to Configure and Use VPCS in GNS3? – When designing network projects using GNS3, you can use VPCS instead of virtual machines in terms of performance.
How to Configure and Use VPCS in GNS3?
After running the GNS3 program, there are devices such as Switch, Router and Hub in the Devices panel. When preparing for Cisco exams with GNS3 you need to add virtual machines to the program. On the other hand, virtual machine usage on GNS3 will cause performance loss and we recommend using Virtual PC Simulator (VPCS).
To use VPCS on GNS3 is more specific and faster. We will review the steps for using VPCS in GNS3 and configuring VPCS in GNS3.
VPCS is Virtual PC Simulator. We can also call VPCS as a virtual computer simulator.
How to Configure Virtual PC Simulator (VPCS) on GNS3?
Follow the steps below to configure VPCS on the GNS3 network simulator.
First open GNS3and create a topology as in the following image.
Double-click the VPCS PC1 to open the CLI command prompt. To configure the VPCS PC1 TCP / IP settings, execute the ip (ip address) (subnet mask) command (default gateway).
You can use the show ip command to control TCP/IP settings on VPCS PC1.
PC1> show ip
NAME : PC1
IP/MASK : 0.0.0.0/0
GATEWAY : 0.0.0.0
MAC : 00:50:79:66:68:00
LPORT : 10000
RHOST:PORT : 127.0.0.1:10001
MTU: : 1500
PC1> ip 192.168.10.10/24 192.168.10.1
Checking for duplicate address...
PC1 : 192.168.10.10 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.10.1
In the same way, configure the TCP/IP settings of the VPCS PC2.
