For the GNS3 VM installation, you must have one of the VMware Workstation, Oracle VM VirtualBox, or VMware Fusion virtualization programs installed on your computer. You can download the GNS3 VM.ova file from the GNS3 website and import with a virtualization program.

Follow the steps below for installing GNS3 VM 2.1.0 using VMware Fusion 10 Pro on the MacOS High Sierra 10.13 operating system.
To download GNS3 VM 2.1.0 go to the GNS3 websites and click the Download button under the VMware Workstation option.
After downloading the GNS3 VM 2.1.0.ova file to your computer, double click on the file. After opening the GNS3 VM 2.1.0.ova file, the VMware Fusion program installed on the computer will open automatically.
Click the Continue button to import GNS3 VM.
Importing GNS3 VM 2.1.0…
Importing GNS3 VM 2.1.0 using VMware Fusion 10 Pro has been completed. Click on the Finish button to close the window.
Opening GNS3 VM 2.1.0…
GNS3 VM 2.1.0installation has been completed successfully. You can test the connection by pinging the GNS3 VM IP address.
Open the GNS3 program and in the Preferences window, check “Enable the GNS3 VM” in the GNS3 VM section and click on the OK button.
To add a Cisco Router on GNS3 VM 2.1.0, click Setup Wizard from the Help menu.
In the Setup Wizard window, click Run modern IOS.
In the GNS3 VM virtual machine program selection step, click VMware (Recommended) and click the Next button.
In the New Appliance Template window, select the IOS image (supported by Dynamips) option and click the OK button.
Select the Cisco Router c7200 IOS image and click the Open button.
After adding the Cisco Router on GNS3 VM 2.1.0, you can see that the IOS image is uploaded on the GNS3 VM in the IOS Router Templates window.
Drag and drop the Router to the GNS3 workspace and run the Router. You can see that the router is running on the GNS3 VM.
