On Debian, Packet Tracer is installed in “/opt/pt/bin/“. So you need to go to the installation location of Packet Tracer 7.2.1 and copy the file named Cisco-PacketTracer.desktop to your desktop.

To create the Cisco Packet Tracer 7.2.1 desktop shortcut, apply the following commands in Terminal.

1) cp /opt/pt/bin/Cisco-PacketTracer.desktop ~/Desktop/
2) chmod +x ~/Desktop/Cisco-PacketTracer.desktop

To create a Start Menu Shortcut for Packet Tracer 7.2.1 on Debian, you need to copy the desktop shortcut you created to /usr/share/applications/.
